According to the public relations office of 34th FIFF, the 2016 jury panel of the festival comprises Majid Majidi and Nasser Taghvayi from Iran, Zeynep Atakan from Turkey, José Luis Guerín from Spain, Ivo Felt from Estonia, Tian Zhuangzhuang from China, and Emmanuel Prévost from France.
Turkish director and producer Zeynep Atakan, known for 'Once Upon A Time In Anatolia' (2011), 'Winter Sleep' (2014), won the Best Producer Award from the European Film Academy in 2010. Her latest production, Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s 'Winter Sleep', won the Palm d’Or Award at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival.
Better known as a documentary maker, José Luis Guerín came to the attention of the wider public with his feature film, ‘En construcción’, with which he won a Goya award for best documentary in 2001. His 2015 drama ‘L’Accademia delle muse’ was awarded Gold Giraldillo at Seville Film Festival.
Estonian producer Ivo Felt is known for his recent productions including Zaza Urushadze’s ‘Tangerines’, which was nominated for the Academy Award and Golden Globe in the Best Foreign Language Film category in 2015, as well as Finnish director Klaus Harö’s award-winning ‘The Fencer’.
Chinese filmmaker and producer Tian Zhuangzhuang, better known for his controversial narrative film 'The Blue Kite' (1992), has contributed to the creation of China’s‘New Wave’ cinema. reached international prominence with a pair of experimental films in the mid-1980s, On the Hunting Ground (1985) and The Horse Thief (1986), both about ethnic minorities in China.
French screenwriter and producer Emmanuel Prévost is known for his work on Corneil and Bernie (2003), Go Fast (2008) and Oggy and the Cockroaches (1998).
The 34th edition of Fajr International Film Festival will be held from April 20th to April 25th, 2016 in Charsou Cineplex, under the supervision of the well-known Iranian filmmaker, Mr. Reza Mirkarimi.
